History of our Department
Lusk Volunteer Fire Department (Lusk VFD) was officially formed in 1975 and was one of the county's  first modern day fire departments. Since then the ten original members have more than tripled and we now have 32 active members.
In 1977 the firemen erected their first building to house their new truck. Then in 1981 the Ladies Auxiliary was formed to help with the growing dept.
In 1986 the Ladies Auxiliary and Choctaw County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments (CCAVFD) help raise funds to enable Lusk VFD to obtain a new new location and a new building . The larger building accommodated two pumper trucks, supply van and contained a complete kitchen.
The building had to be expanded in 1991 to hold the addition of a tanker truck that the department operated for the CCAVFD.
In 2001 the dept. was able to purchased a 3500 gal. tanker to upgrade for better efficiency in shuttling water. Then in 2002 we again were able to upgrade our supply van to a 1994 Freightliner medium rescue unit.
The biggest accomplishment thus far in our department came in Sept. 2002 when we received our CLASS 4 ISO rating.
